Choose the collection before choosing the purchase.

Use this category as a research brief, not a shortcut to a buying decision. Write down the exact object you want, which details matter to you, and the evidence you need before committing. Keep a seller’s claim separate from something you have observed or independently checked.

Begin with these three questions. An answer should describe the actual item, not merely repeat the listing title. When a detail remains uncertain, record the uncertainty instead of choosing the interpretation that makes the price look more attractive.

1. Choose a goal: play, display, set completion, or sealed collecting.
2. Compare costs in the same currency and with fees included.
3. Keep sealed provenance and individual-card records distinct.

Make the comparison fit the object.

Keep identification, condition, documentation, transaction context, and total cost in the same record. Separate advertised prices from documented transactions. Decide whether the object still fits your collection when future resale, restoration, or a hoped-for grade is removed from the calculation.
